Peter Anthony Monk

Peter Anthony Monk was born in Hetton-le-Hole, County Durham, England. He studied composition with Henri Pousseur at the Centre de Recherches Musicales de Wallonie, Liege Belgium, gaining a Premier Prix in composition and a Deuxieme Prix in orchestration from the Conservatoire Royal de Musique, Liege. During this time he worked as a music adviser for Belgian Television. He has also studied with Ligeti and Globokar and film music with Don Ray. Subsequently he read for a Master of Music degree at King’s College London.

His music has been performed in nine European countries, Japan and the USA and on BBC Radio 3 as well as Belgian TV and Radio. In 1995 he was guest composer of the Festival Internazionale di Ottoni, Verona and composer-in-residence for Festival Eurobrass.
